INFORMACIÓN DE LA PLAYA

LA PLAYA

Es Vermells is a rocky area surrounded by hills of reddish loose soil very close to Cala Barril. It is not possible to reach the sea from land because of the steep slope and the unstable terrain. We have seen small boats approaching the place. Weird rock formations on the shore.

OBSERVACIONES

Special protection area, fishing prohibited. There is no possible access by land, only advisable by boat. Our pictures are taken from Camí de Cavalls, between Cala Barril and Cala Calderer.

How to arrive at Es Vermells

How to arrive at Es Vermells

From Es Mercadal

It is preferable to access El Mercadal from the easternmost roundabout, from the first we find from Mahón, as at these roundabouts we will see signs to the 'playas' (beaches). Just surround Es Mercadal on the East side, by the roundabouts, until you reach Camí de Tramontana.

Camí de Tramontana

We will continue along the paved road; at the junctions we will see the signs to the different northern beaches. In our case, we will continue to Binimel.la.

Detour towards Pegonda or Binimel.la

We will get to a detour, a very wide and gravel road with signs indicating " Pregonda y Platja de Binimel.la". After 1,5 km we will reach the restaurant near Binimel.la where there is space for half a hundred cars on the road verges.

Camí de Cavalls

After parking, reach Binimel.la beach, continue along the coastline towards our left. Go past Cales Mortes, Pregondó, Pregonda, continue along Camí de Cavalls through a forest and cross a paved road (where Camí de Cavalls continues). Just immediately after crossing the road we will see Cala Barril

Last stretch of Camí de Cavalls

Continue along Camí de Cavalls from Cala Barril, go up a hill and continue for about 1 more km along a field with no shade. The total distance from the parking at Binimel.la to Es Vermells is 4 km. There is no walking access to the swimming area, it is only accesible by boat.
